The Symphony Presents Nightmare Before Christmas!

The Symphony has revived an old tradition of performing live scores to classic films being screened in the Symphony Hall and they have been awesomely fun! If you haven't shown up for any other musical performance, their upcoming Nightmare before Christmas is not to be missed! Get the details after the jump!



Jacksonville Symphony Presents Disney in Concert: Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas, Film with Orchestra Nov. 18 & 19, Peter & The Wolf Family Concert Nov. 20
 
The Jacksonville Symphony Fidelity National Pops Series will present Symphonic Night at the Movies on Friday, November 18th and Saturday, November 19th at 7pm with Disney in Concert: Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas.  The movie, featuring the music of Danny Elfman, is a classic that takes viewers on the misadventures of Jack Skellington, Halloweentown’s beloved pumpkin king.  Jack is bored with the scare and scream stuff so he visits Christmastown.  The Symphony will play the soundtrack to the movie.
 
Family Concert Peter and the Wolf on Sunday, November 20th at 3pm (with pre-concert activities starting at 2pm) will include a new work by composer Viet Cuong called The Wild Woods.  It is set on the night before the events of Prokofiev’s Peter and the Wolf. The classic story of Peter and the Wolf revolves around a creative young boy, a bird, a duck, a cat and, of course, a wolf.
 
Associate Conductor Nathan Aspinall will lead the orchestra for both The Nightmare Before Christmas and Peter and the Wolf. Jacksonville First Lady Molly Curry will be the narrator for Peter and the Wolf.
 
Film with Orchestra is Friday, November 18th and Saturday, November 19th at 7pm. The Family Concert is Sunday, November 20th at 3pm. Pre-concert Family Concert activities begin at 2pm
