Alternative, pop and garage rock group The Dandy Warhols and special guests Savoy Motel will perform in October, but tickets go on sale this weekend! Find out more after the jump!

The Ponte Vedra Concert Hall, in partnership with Flying Saucer presents, proudly announces that influential alternative, pop and garage rock group The Dandy Warhols and special guests Savoy Motel will perform on Tuesday, October 4, 2016. Tickets for The Dandy Warhols will go on sale this Friday, July 15, 2016 at 10 a.m.

The Dandy Warhols formed in Portland, Oregon in 1994 by singer/guitarist Courtney Taylor-Taylor and guitarist Peter Holmström. Keyboardist Zia McCabe joined the group soon thereafter, Taylor-Taylor’s cousin Brent DeBoer joined on drums in 1998.

Friend of the band, Tres Shannon (owner of Portland’s Voodoo Doughnuts & former owner of the X-Ray Café venue) says of The Dandy Warhols’ early days, “They were making the scene round Portland, but became international stars after someone across the pond had the foresight to use their music for commercials, films, jingles and whatever else happened. You just catch lightning in a bottle sometime (don’t I know it) and you just ride that wave or lightning or whatever. Try not to question it too much and hope you are equipped to handle it. Fortunately for the world, The Dandy Warhols were equipped to handle that with grace, style, a bit of humility (not too much of that though, Rockstars shouldn’t be too humble) but never losing touch with their friends back home.”

The Dandy Warhols released their debut album Dandys Rule OK in 1995, which combined elements of garage rock, Britpop and shoegaze music. In 1996, Capitol Records signed The Dandy Warhols and the band proceeded to release a slew of beloved albums from 1997 through 2008, highlights of which were re-released in 2010 on the compilation album The Capitol Years 1995-2007. It’s quite possible that you’re familiar with their infectious 2001 single “Bohemian Like You”, which caught fire after being used in a popular Vodafone advertisement, on the TV show Buffy the Vampire Slayer and in the Dreamworks animated movie Flushed Away. Their 2003 single, “We Used to Be Friends”, was used as the theme song for the cult television show Veronica Mars and during an episode of The O.C.

Since splitting with Capitol in 2008, the band continues to release intelligent, forward-thinking albums- most recently Distortland, which was released April 8, 2016 on Dine Alone Records. Exclaim.ca says of the album, “it’s songs like “Catcher in the Rye”, driven by a relentless bassline, underlying intelligence and a stoner vibe, that make Distortland such a joy to listen to.” Popmatters refers to lead single, “You are Killing Me” as “a fabulous pop song”. Drownedinsound.com calls The Dandy Warhols, “a band who’ve never been afraid to stick two fingers in the face of adversity”, and says of the album, “Although not entirely futuristic in the most pedantic sense of the word, Distortland is a record that owes little to the past other than the odd glance over its shoulder. Probably to see which of its peers are trying to play catch-up.”

Welcome to Savoy Motel, the debut album by this Nashville four-piece comes from a pedigree of garage, punk, and power-pop groups (bassist Jeffrey Novak founded both Cheap Time and the Rat Traps; drummer Jessica McFarland was also in Cheap Time, and along with guitarists Dillon Watson and Mimi Galbierz, played in Heavy Cream). Savoy Motel transposes the energy and hooks of those groups to an entirely different move: an intensely orchestrated hybrid of glam rock, soul, dance music, and showmanship. “We use rock and roll as a vehicle to reach and promote the feeling of TOTAL FREEDOM,” claims Dillon. “Savoy Motel is defined more by a feeling than a sound.”
