Is your daughter’s school body shaming her with its dress code policies? As school prepares to start next week in Duval County, Melissa Ross spoke with Dr. Jenny Stuber, University of North Florida associate professor of sociology, about dress codes- especially for girls. Critics of rules for dress at many American public and private schools say they are perpetuating sexist and harmful standards when it comes how female students should dress. On the other hand, supporters of school dress codes say they’re necessary rules, and that many kids are wearing clothing that’s considered "too risque" for the classroom.
