Congressional District 4 Race

Jacksonville politicos were shocked earlier this year when District 4 Republican Congressman Ander Crenshaw announced he would not be seeking re-election. Pretty much overnight, the race was loaded with several local Republican heavyweights, two termed out from their most recent elected positions. Former Sheriff John Rutherford, former state representative and Duval Republican Executive Committee chair Lake Ray, lawyer Hans Tanzler III and current St. Johns County Commissioner Bill McClure.

Like last night’s State Attorney debate, we’re going to see the gloves come off and a fight over who is the most conservative candidate. Expect to hear lots of Hillary Clinton and President Obama bashing as these guys vie to be the Republican candidate on the November ballot. There is a Democrat in this race, David Bruderly, who served in the U.S. Merchant Marines and is a engineer by profession, that will be on your November 8th ballot as well.
