Tomboi is one of the best things going on in Jacksonville's indie music scene, a real standout group doing some of the most gorgeous music for crowds of beautiful and beautifully diverse enthusiasts. Their new release is backed by some of the best talent in the emerging creative scene of the historic core, and is officially released today. Check out the new video (directed by Keagan Anfuso) and get the deets after the jump.

The electronica trio have announced their newest release, a cassette featuring remixes of their single Lobos, a song combining both electronic and live band elements that ranges from “80s pop sounds to downtempo drones.” The EP, out now, features remixes by Jacksonville locals Datadiamond and Sea Cycles, along with Louisiana band Prom Date. It is available online for streaming at www.soundcloud.com/tomboiband. To purchase a copy of the cassette, please visit www.tomboiband.bandcamp.com.

Tomboi released their first music video for Lobos earlier this year. The video, an explosion of narrative nostalgia, features a heist scene, villains in colorful '90s attire, a confetti bomb shootout, a kitten, and a host of other '90s callbacks. Directed by Keagan Anfuso and filmed on the grounds of the historic Warehouse Studios in Jacksonville, Florida, “Lobos” showcases a great cast of performers and revels in the nostalgia of its source material. Press
“Tomboi are achieving things most bands don't get to until their second or third year, if ever. They've played SXSW and rocked New Orleans. They've crisscrossed our state and, though they're young, they have goals and they're determined to achieve them ... they are intellectuals with well-formed opinions on gender neutrality, dealing with sexism and the advancement of tolerance. ... They can be Morrissey and Patti Smith and The Monkees at the same time.”
- Danny Kelly, Folio Weekly

“These ladies are insanely talented, bringing a balance of computer-generated beats and added synth to their perfectly played instrumentation makes for quite the experience.”
- Emily Simpson, Void Magazine

“An electro-indie band with a heart for ’90s beats and dance-pop.”
- Kelly Ray Smith, Charleston City Paper
