Futurist Vito Di Bari to speak at Florida Theatre

Fairly cool futurist and innovation design thinker Vito Di Bari will be appearing at the Florida Theatre as part of a new lecture series put on by the Cultural Council. Di Bari will speak about the future of cities and engage the crowd in several visions of the future. Its a free lecture, open to the public so get details on the events and tickets after the jump!

Jacksonville, FL – The Cultural Council of Greater Jacksonville is pleased to be presenting Vito Di Bari for one night only; Wednesday, March 11th at the historic Florida Theatre downtown. The evening is the first in what will become a string of international artists visiting Jacksonville entitled the VyStar International Artist Lecture Series.
“The idea behind the series was to bring exciting artists who are challenging the status quo in their communities and making a global name for themselves,” said Tony Allegretti, Cultural Council Executive Director. “It will give members of our community, especially our local creatives, a chance to learn from these world-renowned presenters and become inspired to effect change here at home.”

Vito Di Bari was chosen as the first guest for the new series. Di Bari hails from Milan, Italy and maintains a global reputation of excellence as the world’s premier futurist, innovation strategist, and most amazingly charming and entertaining keynote speaker. In fact, Di Bari is the only keynote speaker who has been invited to present for TEDx conferences on all five of the world continents. Di Bari is an esteemed former professor of Project Design and Management of Innovation at the Polytechnic University and Bocconi University of Milan. He has also served as the Executive Director for the MI Institute of UNESCO. The acclaimed author of over ten bestsellers, Di Bari’s many achievements have been featured by more than 100 media outlets including the Harvard Business Review, Wired and Architectural Digest. The Financial Times has deemed Vito Di Bari “The New European Guru of Innovation.”
Vito Di Bari will bring his experience as a noted Neo-Futurist, world-renowned speaker and international public artist to The Florida Theatre for one night only in a talk entitled “Future Cities,” centered on the future of technology, innovation, and art in our world. Looking forward towards mega-trends, Di Bari will highlight the success of adopting innovation and how it can impact our city and our lives.

Vito Di Bari at TEDxSalford

Vito Di Bari is an innovation designer and futurist. He is the innovation designer for Milan Candidate City Expo 2015 and has been UNESCO's executive director of the IMI and professor of design and management of innovation at Politecnico di Milano and Bocconi University in Milan, Italy.

Di Bari graduated cum laude from the University of Bari, Italy. In 1978, he moved to Milan where he taught at Politecnico di Milano, and at the Bocconi University.

In 1999 was appointed UNESCO's Executive Director IMI, in 2004, Scientific Director of Innovation Laboratory LabNext in Milan and in 2006, Innovation Designer for Milan candidate City Expo 2015.

In May 2007, he wrote "The Neofuturistic City Manifesto", a futuristic vision of arts, architecture and urbanism at the time of the Universal Expo 2015 referencing the United Nations’ report Our Common Future and included in the candidature of the city of Milan presented to BIE (Bureau of International Expositions).
