Connection Festival Launches September 12th 2014

Connection Festival is about the exploration and creativity of music, art and commerce through technology. Take in and support some of Jacksonville’s local food, drink and business vendors and experience Connection Festival 2014! #connectfest14 . Lots of details after the jump!

The Connection Festival is Jacksonville’s largest art and music festival of the fall season. The Spark inspired event features a highly diverse music selection, with over eighty local, national, and international musicians. The music portion includes various genres, including rock, hip hop, jazz, brass bands, and indie pop. In addition to music, the Connection Festival also features artists from around the nation. The Connection Festival houses several art pavilions, street performances, exhibitions, and a sculpture walk. Craft food and refreshments will also be found in abundance.

The three day Festival will take place September 12-14, and will be spread out over several blocks within the Elbow District of downtown Jacksonville. Weather is expected to be fantastic and parking accommodations have already been made. Tickets are on sale now, and can be purchased at forty dollars a day, or sixty-five dollars for the entire festival.

There’s something for everyone. In addition to the musical performanceps, the festival offers a free family-friendly arts pavilion featuring local artists, and the all new Sculpture Walk, plus street performances, exhibitions, and a variety of craft, food, and refreshment vendors in the easily accessible heart of downtown Jacksonville just east of the Jacksonville Landing and Hemming Plaza (see map).

Festival Hours:

The main stage area will open Saturday and Sunday at 11:00 AM. Other venues are subject to their own schedule, but will usually open at least one hour prior to scheduled performances. Most music venues will remain open until 2:00 a.m.








Parking:
Street parking is free after 6:00 PM Friday and all day Saturday and Sunday. Nearby paid parking is available in any one of four lots/garages as shown on the map. In the unlikely event of a need for overflow parking, we will activate a shuttle service from the convention center area.

Street Closures:
Monroe St will be closed to thru traffic between Main St. and Ocean St. In the best interest of pedestrians, law enforcement may decide to close additional streets, including Adams St., and redirect traffic accordingly.

No outside food or beverages. Exceptions are made for medical reasons, baby food and reasonable children’s snacks (crackers, raisins, juice boxes, etc.)
No video recorders, audio recorders, or other similar electronic devices
No signs, posters or messages on any garment with explicit language, profanity, or derogatory characterization directed toward any person (determination is at sole discretion security personnel).
No laser pointers, whistles, or noisemakers.
In accordance with the Florida’s “concealed carry” law and the right for private entities to ban handguns on their premises, firearms and other weapons of any kind are strictly forbidden on the event premises.

The following items are permitted

Purses and diaper bags are permitted and will be inspected by security
Binoculars and cell phones are permitted and subject to security inspection

Security personnel reserve the right to determine the method of security checks as deemed necessary including the use of metal detectors, the search of jackets, clothing and other items.
