Cosmic Concerts, Jurassic Park, and Extinctions at MOSH

This month the Museum of Science and History has some pretty cool events on the Horizon, including a showing of Jurassic Park and a brilliant lecture on extinctions as part of the MOSH after Dark! series. Get the schedule below the fold!





August 3 – Cosmic Concerts – Experience total-sensory entertainment as laser lights, high-def images and digital sound collide to create a Cosmic Concert! Laser Beach Boys at 7 p.m., Laser Pink Floyd: Wish You Were Here at 8 p.m., Laser Pink Floyd: Dark Side of the Moon at 9 p.m. and Laser Pink Floyd: The Best of “The Wall” at 10 p.m. Tickets are available at www.moshplanetarium.org or at the door. Tickets are $5 per person per show; laser glasses cost $1.
 
August 4 – Jurassic Park Showing – Relive the excitement of the time when dinosaurs roamed the land with a special screening of Jurassic Park in the Bryan-Gooding Planetarium at MOSH.  The Museum will open to moviegoers at 6:30 p.m. and the movie will start at 7 p.m. Jurassic Park is presented in conjunction with  MOSH’s summer exhibit, A T. rex Named Sue.  Tickets can be purchased at the door; space is limited.  Admission is $7 for adults and $5 for members and children 3-12.
           
August 8 – Pre-K Day – Bring your little ones over to MOSH the second Wednesday of every month for exclusive programming for preschool-aged children and their caregivers.  From 9 to 11 a.m. admission is only $5 per person (ages 3 & up) and includes the planetarium show, Sesame Street’s One World, One Sky, at 10 a.m.  Call 904.396.MOSH (6674) ext. 226 for details.

August 23 – MOSH After Dark: Speaking of Extinction Dr. Linda Penfold, Director of South-East Zoo Alliance for Reproduction & Conservation (SEZARC), will discuss her US and international work in using conservation strategic planning and reproductive health to solve reproduction issues that threaten the survival of rare and endangered animals. Cost is $5 per person, FREE for MOSH members, students and teachers with an ID.  Register online at www.themosh.org. Speaking of Extinction is part of MOSH After Dark, a monthly series of adult programs.

August 26 – LEGO DUPLO Read! Build! Play! – The LEGO DUPLO Read! Build! Play! tour is hitting the nation – and will make a stop at MOSH!  Come join “LEGO Play masters” for fun building sessions, games and story times from noon to 6 p.m. The Read! Build! Play! program is a partnership between LEGO DUPLO and the Association of Library Services to Children to bring a fun and interactive play time to children all across the country.  The program is free with Museum admission.
