A brief look at the status of various projects under construction in and around Downtown Jacksonville during the month of July 2012.


SPRINGFIELD

Kool Beans Cafe

Sam Jackson, former owner of Moe's (location of Shanty Town Pub), continues to work on his latest venue at 6th & Main Streets.  This project will be a bistro serving early morning coffee and breakfast, as well as dinner.  Nearing completion, Kool Beans is anticipated to open in August.




Department of Veterans Affairs Outpatient Clinic

Work on the Department of Veterans Affairs Outpatient Clinic continues but one can't help but notice the installation of large gates surrounding the property.






Paul Davis Restoration






Ardy's Eatable Delyghts

Ardy's Eatable Delyghts will soon occupy the former Jerome Brown BBQ resturant space at 9th & Main Streets.



SAN MARCO

San Marco Boulevard Streetscape

The third phase of the San Marco Boulevard Streetscape project, between Laverne Street and San Marco Square, is underway.






Murphy Anderson Attorneys At Law

M Shack

San Marco Square's Take Away Gourmet will be converted into the area's second M Shack.




Aardwolf Brewery






Jersey Mike's

Jersey Mike's Subs plans to open a restaurant at 1615 Hendricks Ave., in 1,400-square-feet of unoccupied space next to Hurricane Grill & Wings. Jersey Mike's is known for its East Coast-style subs, featuring meats and cheese sliced to order.




RANDOM URBAN CORE

Success Park

The urban core's latest public park nears completion in New Town. Success Park is a collaborative initiative between Edward Waters College and the city for the New Town Success Zone program. The city is paying for the park's $175,000 cost, and Edward Waters College will maintain the park and its equipment.






S-Line Urban Greenway - Phase II

The conversion of this former rail corridor into a multi-use path between Norwood and Springfield continues.
