“I began redesigning my clothing in high school as a response to the limitations of Catholic High’s strict dress code and wanting to show my individuality. I designed and created several of my dresses for dances, as well,” Lacey shared. “In college, I started creating jewelry and accessories just for fun and sold them at a local boutique.” -Designer Lacey B. is also one of the featured designers for this year's Jacksonville Fashion Week! The Metro Jacksonville Drilldown Questionnaire:
Why? (existential. answer any way you want)
“Choose a job you love and you will never have to work a day in your life.” - Confucius
What fabrics do you like to use? Why?
I work mostly with grosgrain ribbon. It gives me a wide range of color and size options that allow my imagination to run wild.
What do you want to say with your style?
I want my style to communicate that I don’t take myself too seriously, and I have fun with my personal style. I want my jewelry to communicate the same. My hope is that when wearing a piece of Lacey.B jewelry, the wearer will look as though they are happily experiencing the world around them.
Which designers are you inspired by?
I am constantly inspired by the Snyder sisters of Dannijo (Jacksonville natives!) Their jewelry inspires me season after season. I try to learn as much as I can through their marketing efforts and business decisions. Above all, they look like they are having so much fun!
Where are you at in your career? What are your goals?
My business is still pretty young in the grand scheme of things. I have many things I would like to accomplish in the near future. I will be moving my business to Nashville, TN in the upcoming months. I am very excited for the new challenges that will bring.
What do you want Jacksonville to know about you?
I want Jacksonville to know that it has a special place in my heart. I lived here for a little over three years and some of my favorite people and memories are in Jacksonville. I would like Jacksonville to think of me as an honorary native and continue to support me and my business.
