8 big firms hiring you and making jobs near Town Center

The headline may have grabbed your attention but Jacksonville's Southside is much more than St. John Town Center.  According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, 22,800 jobs were added in the Jacksonville area between April 2015 and April 2016. Now more are on the way and a good share of them are heading to the Southside.  If you're in need of employment or a career change, here's eight places to keep your eye on!





1. Mayo Clinic

The Mayo Clinic plans to begin construction on a $100 million expansion project at its Southside medical center campus this Summer. Expansion plans include the addition of a four story, 150,000-square-foot building that can eventually be expanded up to 15 stories. Over the next five years, Mayo plans to add 50 physicians and scientists and 250 allied health employees to support its expansion.

2. Deutsche Bank

In 2008, Deutsche Bank opened a regional office in Jacksonville with 100 employees. Since that time, the financial institution has added 1,700 local jobs and plans to add a lot more. Recently, Deutsche Bank celebrated the expansion of its local operations with ribbon cutting ceremony 5201 Gate Parkway. As a part of its latest expansion, the company is committed to increasing its local workforce by another 350 jobs by the end of 2017. However, now with 350,000-square-feet of Southside office space to work with, Deutsche Bank CEO John Cryan believes their facilities can accommodate up to 2,800 workers.



3. Aetna

A long time fixture in downtown's skyline, Aetna plans to relocate its 800 employees to the Southside's Gramercy Woods office park by August 2017. Aetna's move could result in the insurer hiring an additional 150 to 300 jobs.  In preparation of Aetna consuming 132,000-square-feet of office space at Gramercy, office park owner Gramercy Property Trust, Inc. plans to build a parking garage to accommodate the influx of employees.



4. Fidelity Investments

Fidelity Investments, one of the world’s largest providers of financial services, plans to add 300 jobs through 2018 as part of an expansion of its Customer Contact Center. With its regional offices in Deerwood North already at capacity, the company plans to lease additional office space to accommodate the expansion.



5. Randrr

Randrr, a digital platform that connects potential employees with employers, announced its intentions to establish a Jacksonville office in June 2016.  The company plans to hire up to 50 employees by the end of 2016 and house 200 new software development workers by 2018. 6. RP Funding Direct Mortgage Lender



Maitland-based RP Funding Direct Mortage Lender is in the process of opening a servicing center in the Prominence office park in Baymeadows. Operations at the Jacksonville office will include servicing, processing, underwriting and closing loans.  Founded in 2008 with six employees, the company plans to hire as many as 175 employees for its Jacksonville office by the end of 2017. 7. Vistakon

Vistakon, a division of Johnson & Johnson Vision Care, and manufacturer of Acuvue contact lenses, is in the middle of a $300 million, 100-job expansion of its Deerwood Park manufacturing complex. The jobs, with an average annual salary of $60,000 plus $30,000 in benefits would be filled by the end of 2017.



8. Citibank

Already employing 4,000 at its South Jacksonville offices, including hiring 500 last year, Citibank plans to hire 800 more employees. New positions include management, customer service, fraud and collections representatives.
