Downtown Investment Authority's Plans For Downtown Jax

If you have not spent considerable time at City Hall over the last 12 months, this is a document you've most likely never seen. Here is a full version digital copy of the Downtown Investment Authority's (DIA) recently completed Downtown Northbank and Southside Community Redevelopment Area Plan. This document is intended to guide the revitalization of Downtown Jacksonville through 2025.

Published August 14, 2014 in Neighborhoods - MetroJacksonville.com

DIA redevelopment projects in the plan include a Retail Enhancement Grant Program, Urban Art Facade and Streetscape Program, Hemming Plaza Management, a new public space called Hogan Street Plaza, Improved Wayfarer Signage, protected cycle tracks on Liberty and Bay Streets, bike lanes on Pearl Street, the implementation of a Downtown Historic District, and a free Wi-Fi zone for downtown. Also included is the conversion of Monroe, Adams, Forsyth, Pearl, Julia, and Hogan Streets into two-way streets.

Additional information includes a comparative downtown analyses with Baltimore, Cincinnati, Kansas City, Louisville, Chattanooga, Charlotte, Indianapolis, and Greenville, SC and a Downtown Jacksonville Feasibility Study. With conceptual renderings of what MOSH, the Jacksonville Landing, and a new convention center can be, this document is well worth the read.
