Ah yes, anyone remember the old Panama City Seafood restaraunt?  Best potato patties in town back then.  Saw 2001 at the old main street drive in.

OMG!! I was born and raised in Panama park! My parents still stay there. Still a very quiet area with the exception of 63rd street. That is drug alley. I was raised on 55th street and I also went to Lola M Culver. I was very said to see the school close.

Panama Park is a great neighborhood except for 63rd st as duvaldude08 mentioned.  I particularly love the bungalows on huge lots along the south end of Oakwood.  I'm still kicking myself for not buying that gem of a home on a 1.5 ac lot for $50k just a couple years ago.  If JSO would make a concerted effort to clean up the dealing & hooking going on along 63rd st, it would be huge for the entire neighborhood.

I wish they would as well. growing up in this area and walking home from Lola M Culver, 63rd has always been a hot bed for drugs, robberys, etc. I can remember that store over there being robbed several times growing up as a child and my mom told us not to ever go in there. We were even forbidden to go to the park alone because of the drug activity that takes places. Luckily, this activity has not ruin the entire area.

As a kid I remember going to see Beatles movies (Help! and A Hard Days Night) and Frankie Avalon and Annette Funicello beach movies at the Main St. drive-in in the sixties.

I grew up in the 60's off Buffalo Ave.  We could ride up and down the streets on our bikes til dark then and walk the couple miles to Culver without fear.  Everybody knew everybody.  I will always cherish those memories.

billy: The Main Street Drive-In driveway was to the right of the old Kenney Shoe store.  I think it is a rent-a-center now.
