Thanks for the inspirational words heights! It's good to hear this from someone who knows the neighborhood past and who doesn't live in the area anymore. Much better than some of the pessimistic comments (the one's peppered with if and maybe) I hear on this board sometimes.

The place is a cess pool. I can't believe the TU has opened their doors to the type of hatred and racism that goes on there.

I've been thinking about signing up for the paper forums and posting when I see the horrid comments on there, but I'm going to post back just as horrid comments directed at those who posted them.

You're welcome Deuce; and those were not just words, it was all the truth and from the heart.  Springfield is rebounding after decades of ruin,  neglect, decline, etc.  It's great to see a neighborhood with a dark past finally begin to light up like the sun.  Hope it continues and incidents such as what happened at "Shanty" doesn't scare people away or make them give up hope for their neighborhood and community.

And I will be there Friday night for my buddies band Johnathan Appleseed! I love Shanty Town... a few of my buddies own Burro Bags and it's a nice convenient walk next door for a beer. I've been going before they even opened up shop though, I just find the place very relax. Keep it up!

Word to Triclops!! Man I remember when dude was fixing that place up while he was grinding at London Bridge. Dude did like a lot of the work himself, construction included! That place is going to be alright! Good to see it is still poppin.

FYI all, Shantytown has THE best trivia night in Jacksonville on Tuesdays at 8 p.m. with Trivia Mistress Donna (formerly of London Bridge-fame) Form a team (no more than four people) and come out! If not for the trivia, then for the $2 pints of Guinness.
