From as far back as Ed Austin's tenure the administrations have KNOWN that the North Bank needed repairs. Its ludicroud to say that no one knew that the decay was not an issue. Spend the 30-50 million needed to fix and repair the pilings now. The riverwalk is too big a draw to have a potentially deadly accident. After all, the entire courthouse parking lot is built on top of the water with the same pilings.

The decision to defer maintenance indefinitely is another one of those great on the MONEY master planning decisions that the current administration is so renowned for. Too bad it broke while Peyton was still in office. You know what they say; sometimes you bite the bear and sometimes the bear bites you.... But look on the bright side, it will take concrete to fix that mess.
