Significant Enterprise Zone #1601 Projects (Announced for FY 07/08):

1.   Fidelity National Information Services, Inc. (FNIS) announced the expansion of their headquarters located at 601 Riverside Avenue resulting in the creation of an additional 210 new full time QTI level jobs at an average wage of $55,000 plus benefits generating an increase in their annual payroll of approximately $11.6 million.  The private capital investment associated with this expansion is estimated to be $1.1 million in technology infrastructure and machinery & equipment purchases.  Total number of FNIS employees working out of their EZ location totals 3,000 persons.  This expansion is subject to the Governor’s Office approving the QTI request totaling $1,155,000 including $3,000 in QTI and an additional $2,500 per job Brownfield Bonus.  The City’s portion of the QTI/Brownfield match is $231,000 or $1,100 per new job.
2.   BodyTel Scientific, Inc. a German-American Telehealth company announced its desire to relocate their world headquarters from Bad Wildungen, Germany to downtown Jacksonville and to relocate their US headquarters from Reno, Nevada to Jacksonville.  The world headquarters relocation will result in the creation of 13 new full time jobs at an average wage of $72,500 (200%) of the statewide average plus benefits.  The annual payroll generated by the creation of the world headquarters operation in Jacksonville will be $942,000 plus benefits.  The private capital investment associated with this corporate relocation is estimated to be $150,000 for leasehold improvements and purchase of machinery & equipment.  BodyTel is a recognized leader in the development and application of telemedical monitoring and management systems for chronic illnesses-especially diabetes.  The company is listed on the Over-the Counter Bulletin Board (OTCBB) under the symbol BDYT.
3.   Laura Street Transfer Station, LLC, proposes to construct a one story retail building at the corner of Laura and State Streets, and a three-story office/retail building at the corner of Laura and Union Streets.  The project will contain approximately 12,000 square feet of space located adjacent to the downtown FCCJ downtown campus and the JTA bus transfer station.  The private capital investment for this downtown project is $2.8 million. It is estimated that the project will result in the creation of approximately 35 full time equivalent jobs.
4.   Downtown Action Plan.  The JEDC formally approved the Downtown Action Plan containing 19 action steps at their December 13, 2007 meeting.  The objectives are to improve walk ability, make downtown a destination, create a downtown neighborhood and ensure a framework for sustainable success.  The plan incorporates the recommendations generated from the four task forces created to address the topics of residential, infrastructure, retail/entertainment and the pedestrian experience, open space and the river.
5.   The Lofts on Main, LLC, proposes to construct two, three-story buildings, with 36-extended stat hotel suites, 7,460 square feet of retail space located at 3rd & Main Streets in historic Springfield.  The project will contain approximately 25,920 square feet of residential space and 7,460 square feet of 1st floor retail space for a total of 33,000 square feet.  The development cost for the project is estimated to be $6.2 million, of which $500,000 in subordinate financing came from the NW Jacksonville Economic Development Trust Fund.  The extended stay hotel suites are being constructed to support the patients and family members obtaining medical treatment at the University of Florida Proton Therapy Institute located within the Shands-Jacksonville hospital complex located on 8th Street.
6.   Hyundai of North Jacksonville is expanding their new car dealership and constructing a new showroom and service center at 10101 Interstate Center Drive within the Hope Plaza portion of the Enterprise Zone.  The 38,000 square foot facility is projected to cost $ 3.8 million and create approximately 10 more new full time jobs.  The Hyundai of North Jacksonville is the only new car dealership located within the Enterprise Zone.
