I always found that neighbourhood fascinating. When I was in high school, my friend Daniel lived there - his dad had a veterinary practice there. And in college I briefly worked at Pure Ice of the South (on Edison Ave).

I still find it pretty interesting. I also wish that the SAL shops buildings could have been saved.

I've not been back for years. But it seems that places like Lakawanna and Durkeeville are the only 'real' Jacksonville neighbourhoods left (alongside other more well-known ones, of course). I worry that these will be destroyed like LaVilla or Brooklyn.
