Great notoriety for Jax Beach, but it doesn't match the actual dollars spent there his summer.

For the hotels in the Jacksonville Beaches submarket according to STR, RevPAR (Revenue Per Available Room)  was down vs prior year in June and will likely be down in July as well. For the week starting July 30th, RevPAR was down by over 19%, largely caused by a 15% reduction in occupancy. Average Daily Room Rate was up in June and for much of July, but occupancy has been way down this year vs last year.  There are some hotels that are excluded from the dataset, most notably the Springhill Suites because it's too new to report, but almost 95% of rooms are included.  If Jax Beach wants to be a tourism draw, it's going to need to put in some work to retain the visitors it picked up after the pandemic who now have the option to return to their pre-pandemic destinations of choice.

Deceiving headline and bad journalism.

Jax Beach had a large increase in internet searches in 2023 compared to 2022. There is an HBCU beach party in Jax Beach Labor Day. The uptick in searches could simply be related to that.

LOL, as PT Barnum once said, there is no such thing as bad publicity.  I am sure Jax Beaches are thrilled with this national headline regardless of the facts on the ground  ;D.  Many will read this article and believe Jax Beach is an up and coming destination they never previously considered.  That's all anyone at the Beaches could ask for.
