Rinse and repeat, their Oakleaf development.  Developer probably already has eyes on the next far out property to follow up on this one.

More urban sprawl facilitated by the developer being an elected official.  A prime example of developers having influence over public policy and benefitting therefrom.

St. John's County taxpayers will be subsidizing infrastructure and more for this development for decades to come while another big chunk of rural Florida and our green space gets eaten away.

I think Malvina Reynolds summed it up in 1962 with "Little Boxes"

Quote
Little boxes on the hillside
Little boxes made of ticky tacky
Little boxes on the hillside
Little boxes all the same
There's a pink one and a green one
And a blue one and a yellow one
And they're all made out of ticky tacky
And they all look just the same

On account of voters selecting officials who don't believe in regional planning, much less in density and transit, I'm not sure what else could have happened. Only the people with a vested interest in what the area looks like (due to their holdings) are going to put effort into making that reality. Good on the county for not kowtowing to the NIMBYs and making housing prices even more ludicrous than they already are, but I wouldn't say they've chosen a particularly sustainable path either.
So, to the young people fighting in this movement for change, here is my charge: march in the streets, protest, run for school committee or city council or the state legislature. And win. - Ed Markey

Silverleaf got its start with Oakleaf in Clay County.
Too Bad the Trust For Public Lands relinquished their hold on 1800 acre Brannon Chaffee ( Outer Beltway) Mitigation lands. Let it go, after z500 acres “ Saved”.
Mayor Delaney loved the Trust. My brother un law was a key Mitigation Trust lands investor. See also Don Pittman. Others. And some Legislators.
So much to report...... but...... Why????
Let’s just feast on a Banquet Of Consequences.

I challenge you to make less sense.
Do you believe that when the blue jay or another bird sings and the body is trembling, that is a signal that people are coming or something important is about to happen?
