As the Jacksonville Jaguars inch toward a plan to renovate TIAA Bank Field, the NFL team released survey results July 12 that show team performance and lack of shade are key factors in ticket holders’ overall stadium experience.

The survey conducted by CAA Icon Strategy Group and completed May 18 is the latest sign that the Jaguars likely will seek a full renovation of the city-owned stadium by the time the team’s lease expires in 2030.

Not really a shock. The team has sucked and it's hot in Florida. I suppose to do due diligence you need the actual survey results but this had to be what they expected.

Last rumor I heard was they were looking at a rebuild of the Upper Decks, combined with wider concourses and a redo of the vertical circulation (either in addition to ramps or in place of ramps). The lower bowl would remain. The Upper Bowl would be redesigned so that some sort of shade structure could extend off over the seats.

Hopefully they do something similar to the Rangers roof. Simple, functional and still allows plenty of natural light. It would be cool if they made the upper deck for the home side lower and wider than the visitor side so that you could have a nice view of downtown from the mid-upper decks on the visitor side. Would give the stadium a little character and make for good guest photos/tv shots and hopefully boost perception of the city.

All great ideas, and I hope the City and Jags can come to an agreement.

Will the City be able to convince FL and GA to continue to play here with ever-diminishing capacity?
If a mechanical roof, as suggested by jaxjaguar ... would the COJ maintain it?

Arthur Ashe Stadium's (where the U.S. Open is held) retractable roof is apparently something the Jags have been looking at for inspiration.

Was designed by the same group (Rossetti) that's doing the Jags' new performance center, and Tony Khan has a close relationship with the Arthur Ashe folk.

I quite like it, if we go with this style.

The results of the survey came with a disclaimer:

“Although the findings included herein appear reasonable based on current and anticipated market conditions, actual results depend on the actions of management and other factors both internal and external to the Jaguars,” it said.

“It is important to note that because events and circumstances may not occur as expected, there may be significant differences between the actual results and those estimated in the analysis, and those differences may be material.”

In other words, the survey results could be totally misleading and worthless in the real world :).

Based on the quotes in the article saying we could save $600 million over a new stadium, I will back into the potential costs they are looking at.  If a new stadium is about $1.5 billion +/-, we are likely looking at $900 million +/- for renovations.  How much will the taxypayers be asked for?
