They opened up this past weekend - I wasn't able to make it but they sold out of food almost every day this weekend. The reviews have been very good on social media.
Thanks for digging up the thread.
We went today for lunch. Her with a mild sandwich and potato salad, me with the medium wings and mac-n-cheese. Also a side of pimento fritters.
We did takeout v/s dine in.
I'm still going to miss Taco Bodega, but this has potential for repeat visits. The food quality was great. The chicken has really good flavor and even though we stayed on the low end, the heat was solid. There isn't much variation on the menu, but I guess if you do one thing really well, why bother trying to do other things only half-assed? So it's not likely a place we'll go weekly, but more like once every month or two or when a chicken sandwich craving hits.
The wait from time to order until the food arrived was a bit long, but not unexpected with a new place. +25 minutes until the food arrived, but the fact that they take your phone number and that you get a text when the food comes up is a great idea - especially if the wait times end up being more the norm rather than a growing pain exception, because it allowed us to wander over to the Flamingo for a coffee and night time diners will have Fishweir Brewery to keep them occupied if you're not sitting at a table.
I'm excited to get back in a week or so and try the their regular chicken and take the heat up another notch.
