The Derby Is Back!
« on: June 20, 2019, 12:30:59 PM »
If you grew up in Jacksonville there’s one place that you no doubt ate as a child, The Derby House. Located at Five Points in Riverside, The Derby House was a Jacksonville institution. The diner on the corner of Park Street is back with a new identity. Now Derby House Diner, the restaurant at 1068 Park Street reopened to the public on June 17 for dinner service.

The diner was sold from its longtime owners to Dwayne Beliakoff and Jonathan Cobbs of The Bread & Board in Riverside. In December 2018, they closed the restaurant down. By late January, it landed a set of new owners: Chad Munsey and Michael Schmidt, heralds of The Bearded Pig and Rec Room...

It's a great location - would be wonderful to see something there. It's a real shame the last place closed so quickly. Ideally, I'd love to see a diner there.

From the Daily Record
Quote
The former Derby House Diner in Five Points, vacant since October, has a new tenant.

904 Tacos plans to open at 1068 Park St. in the next month and a half.

Jesus and Blanca Valencia are the owners. They also own 14 Salsas Mexican Restaurant and one Anejo Cocina Mexicana in Ponte Vedra.

Blanca Valencia said 904 Tacos will serve authentic Mexican food with a full bar.

The menu will offer street tacos, a specialty barbacoa taco, tortas, gorditas, homemade horchata, and bottled Mexican sodas. It will be open for lunch and dinner.

Five Points is now "Taco Central"

Should that be "Cinco Puntos"?
