So, to the young people fighting in this movement for change, here is my charge: march in the streets, protest, run for school committee or city council or the state legislature. And win. - Ed Markey

Great to see this project moving forward and given the developer's track record this should be a quality addition to that part of the Old Town. Unfortunately it's not a big net gain in much needed hotel rooms since they're taking down an existing one but that section of Castillo Dr. could really use some new life. And goodbye Barnacle Bill's - always enjoyed eating there back in the day but it's now become a big space-wasting anachronism, and it's not O'Steen's.

Yeah, the developer of this hotel, Kanti Patel, is truly the shit in St. Augustine. Not only is he owner and operator of numerous hotels in prime locations around the city but he just bought the old Barnett bank building downtown and home of the Treasury on the Plaza, one of the most creative and classy repurposings of a historic bank space.

I would hope the new interior designers of the former Bisbee Bank building would give it a look.

Underground parking?  Don't see that too much around these parts.

The Hilton Bayfront Inn, which Patel also owns, has underground parking as does the Casa Monica Hotel I believe.

Wow, I'd think that would fill up with water fairly regularly as much as the road out front floods.

In the 20 years I lived in STA, I never knew there was parking underneath the Hilton, that blows my mind.

I've been to Barnacle Bills a grand total of one time, but I do remember going to 3D World in the information center a couple times.

This is a good addition to that part of San Marco Ave and goes toward fulfilling a small part of the many, many things on my STA wish-list.
