Feds search home of an investor who hinted he might build the facility.By David Bauerlein, The Times-UnionThe yearslong attempt to provide a parking garage for The Jacksonville Landing took another twist when federal authorities executed a search warrant at the home of the investor talking with city officials about building the garage.Federal agents sought the search warrant for the Minnesota home of Frank Vennes Jr., according to an affidavit filed last week in U.S. District court in Minnesota. The FBI sought search warrants for several homes and businesses while investigating a scheme that defrauded investors in a Minnesota company, according to the affidavit.Vennes has owned businesses in both Minnesota and Florida.Vennes is the manager of Project Riverwatch LLC, which owns a tract of land next to the SunTrust Tower on downtown's Northbank, according to city and state records.
