UF announces that Garth Brooks is coming to Swamp on 4/20. UF is smartly getting into the stadium concert business.

Travis Scott has a tour stop planned at the arena. That is a big get for Jax.

Speaking of potential shows, Shaky Knees (Atlanta) put out their lineup for next spring. This is one of Jax's best opportunities to grab relevant acts yearly.

Tame Impala are headlining. Last time they played Shaky Knees, Nashville snatched them up at the Ryman and Florida Theater didn't even take a look at them. Daily's Place and St. Auggie better be making a big run at them, as they are arguably one of the best bands of the decade. Beck, Interpol, Tears For Fears, Father John Misty, and Gary Clark Jr. are some other bands playing that local venues should make a run at.

And the winner is....St. Augustine. The Ampitheater snatched up Tame Impala the day after their set at Shaky Knees. They are also headlining Coachella this summer. Arguably one of best shows the Jax area has had in years. A LOT of people (myself included) consider Tame Impala to be the best rock band of the decade.

Some of you may recall me previously posting about offering to help the Florida Theater bring them here a few years ago, even offering to assume all risk with their booking fee, only to be ignored. Vintage Jax.

Really nice get for Jacksonville.

Mostly top 20 markets, no Tampa or Orlando.

I think this shows they are selling the stadium concerts hard...and Camping World Stadium sucks.....and Tampa Sports Authority isn't selling it as hard. Great Job by the Jags and Bold City Events!

the latest green day song seems to have been written directly for edgy xD middle schoolers
I'm almost tempted to go, but FOB absolutely sucks now and GD & Weezer seem to really be phoning it in the last few years

I really hope TIAA Bank Field's hosting of the Rolling Stones played a role in landing this show for next summer. I came back to Jacksonville for the concert and felt it was a really well run show. It was a nice mix of locals and out of town visitors in attendance and it showed in the local hotel occupancy rates during those days. It seems like the stadium is getting more looks as a a viable concert venue after all these years of losing out to Tampa and Orlando.

The fact that Jacksonville can draw stadium filling crowds is vital but one cannot stress enough the importance of having very accommodating management of your venue (it's certainly a key to the success and expansion of the St. Augustine Amphitheater). You can look at the reaction of the Rolling Stones to the micro-management and restrictions of the Levi's Stadium staff when they played there:

And for the record, Green day and company will NOT be bringing their show and the positive economic benefits it would have provided to Santa Clara, California next year.

...because they're actually playing in San Francisco (at the MLB park). As they're from the East Bay, it makes sense that they'd want to play closer to home. And let's be fair about it - SF is a way better place to hold a concert. Obviously they aren't expecting football stadium-sized crowds on this tour. If they were, they'd not be playing a tiny venue like Daily's Place.

They’re playing in TIAA Bank Stadium, not Daily’s Place.

That makes waaaaay more sense. It honestly seemed odd to me that they'd play someplace so small - I mean, neither band is as big as they used to be, but I think they still sell a decent number of records (I know nothing of Fallout Boy).

Edit: I just looked the tour up on Wikipedia and it looks like most of the dates in the US are at baseball parks.

Yep - mostly baseball and some soccer stadiums. This is the only tour stop in a large football stadium. A bit surprised (but pleasantly) they didn't make a stop at either Tropicana in Tampa or the Orlando City stadium.

We don't really have anything between 15,000 seats (Arena) and 50,000-ish seats. I'm wondering if they set the stage up closer to mid-field, versus the end zone where the Stones did.

As much as I hate everything Weezer has done for the last few years, I saw them at Hangout Music Fest and they put on an awesome show.  Played all of the classics and very little of the new stuff.

I'd pay to see them - especially if they were playing at Daily's Place!
