Come on, Bold Events.

Dailys Place is getting Sting

No, Daily's Place is getting Sting and Shaggy.

I need to make sure I get this correct.

When this epic Daily's Place/St Augustine Amphitheater battle is written about in history books, will Shaggy being at this concert not allow for the counting of Sting as a quality show for Daily's Place?

Well, it's not the same, is it?

Sting and Shaggy have an album out. So it's likely the majority of the stuff they play will be off that record. And maybe some covers. It's also likely they will play some of each of their solo work (though if I were a betting man, I'd bet Sting's back catalogue will have more representation).

Sting on his own is likely too big an act to play Daily's Place.

I saw Shaggy in Tampa (he was one of the free concerts for the Super Bowl). He was super-hot at the time and was pretty great, to be fair. I like Shaggy and would probably be more likely to go see him than him with Sting.

311 and Offspring tonight...  8)

Don't forget Gym Class Heroes.  I'll be there.

Did you enjoy the show?  I certainly did!
In a boat at sea one of the men began to bore a hole in the bottom of the boat. On being remonstrating with, he answered, "I am only boring under my own seat." "Yes," said his companions, "but when the sea rushes in we shall all be drowned with you."

I did!  We initially sat in our designated seats for The Offspring, but moved closer when it looked like there was plenty of room.  Unfortunately my group wanted to leave at about 10:50, so I didn't get to see all of 311.  I was a little bummed that security wasn't letting anyone mosh.  Jax can be so stuffy at times.

You gotta keep 'em separated.

Per the head of SMG this afternoon, 32,000 tickets sold to date for Skynyrd, with a month and another major marketing push left to go.

That seems like a good number to me. I assume they could get close to 50k.

^You'd think, but even at 32,000 tickets sold, the concert is currently in the red.

Break even is probably closer to 45k.

Can't say I understand the economics, but the concert has a $4 million price tag.

Nicest time of the year outside, and there are only three shows scheduled at Daily's Place through the end of the year.

A country show (Brett Eldredge) at the end of the month.

The symphony in mid-November.

Weezer in December.

Meanwhile, St. Augustine has Bob Dylan and Death Cab in the next two weeks.

Yes, but they do have a great new electronic billboard, perfectly viewed from the parking lot it sits in......

Meanwhile at the TU downtown, no functioning marquee (it's the original one, about 30 years old) for almost a year and no plan in place to replace it from what I understand.

Just saw this:

", but the concert has a $4 million price tag. "

Was that for Lynyrd Skynyrd?  What a freakin waste...............................

Should have called it the "Please Fund our Retirement " Tour.

Pretty sure this is the questionnaire they send to artists interested in performing at Daily's Place:
