Great interview. Look for a white older lady from Mandarin to visit your church soon. We need to desegregate our churches.

This was one of my favorite interviews.

I'm a Jay fan. I just thought his answers to my questions were thoughtful, layered and nuanced.

Although Jay doesn't address this specifically, we walk around this idea of American "Christian nationalism," which to me, is both a perversion of Christianity and the Constitution.

It's an odd, weird and disgusting relationship that should be severed...by Christians.

One of the reasons I'm happy about Trump as a candidate, he further forced a healthy divide in the Christian evangelical voting block. More and more evangelicals feel that they can't rock a vote under the pretense of Christianity because what they are actually supporting is a slew of infamous -isms.

Trump unintentionally forced a new "morality" in politics that extends beyond the un-thoughtful and knee-jerk responses of the "moral majority" types.

Image Church is hosting a viewing party for the documentary "The 13th". Ava Duvernay, director of Selma, explores the roots of America’s mass incarceration problem. The movie will begin at 7:00 p.m. sharp, so be sure to get there early. We will have an open mic discussion following the conclusion of the movie exploring the film's content.

Feel free to bring food, drinks and friends. Anyone and everyone is welcome. Also, as much as we love children, there will be no childcare.

We have about 80 people going or interested so far! It's important, it's timely, we need to see it and we need to talk about it!

I may be misinterpreting you.... but are you implying a vote for trump to be the immoral choice? Especially as a Christian voter?
I was just curious if my understanding was correct and if you could clarify. Cheers.

He would be the immoral choice in light of the decades of "moral majority" like posturing by many who identify with the political right.

Trump pulls away the posturing to show all of us that "Christian" morality was never of political relevance.

The Mormon, Mitt Romney did the same showing for the Christian right but in a different way.

Barak Obama, a christian, is branded a Muslim.

And, the man who is part of a faith stream that has been branded as non-Christian and as a cult by evangelicals since forever is suddenly the Christian choice for America. Once again, if it's not Christian morality that is of primary importance than what is it, actually.

McCain, the same thing on the family value front. Obama seems steady, loyal and faithful to his family.

McCain, on the other hand, had divorced his just out of the hospital wife and a month later remarried an heiress to a  beverage company fortune.

The point, if family values were never of importance during the McCain v Obama election, what was then?

(side note, remember the constant criticism Kerry received for being divorced and marrying an heiress of a ketchup fortune when he was running against Bush?)
