Clear winner is Pepe's
In a boat at sea one of the men began to bore a hole in the bottom of the boat. On being remonstrating with, he answered, "I am only boring under my own seat." "Yes," said his companions, "but when the sea rushes in we shall all be drowned with you."

I'd remove Los Portales from this list or add La Nop.  The two are pretty similar in flavor, quality, style, etc..

I've always wanted to stop at La Guadalupana, but I've never quite worked up the courage to do so.

Let's go!

btw, I'm hardly an expert on authentic Mexican fare and I've been only one time to one of the restaurants on this list...but I thought Mi Veracruz might make it on here. Very impressed with that place and I've never seen non-Spanish speaking patrons besides myself.

Back in the mid-90s, I thought El Potro was pretty good. I'm no expert on "authentic" Mexican food, but I suspect few are.

Tequila's on Baymeadows at 9A might also be worthy of consideration.

I like it, anyway.  :)

To make my "authentic" list they must serve Menudo on Saturday and lengua is an ingredient choice...

Si Senor is fantastic.

I've been there dozens of times.

Food is always great, and the owners and staff are awesome people.

Pepe's gets my vote. The last one with the french fries and ciabatta bread looks SO authentic! Come on, really?

That is a torta roll. Yes it is authentic. Si Senor supplies them to a number of  tienda/tacquerias around town.

Ditto Si Senor. It helps that I live close by. The staff is friendly, they probably already know who I am whenever I call an order in

Mi Pueblo is good too. I get the fried pork belly all the time and take it home for lunch/dinner

I found another... and very authentic as it certainly meets my criteria above.  Had Tamales and rice with refrieds for New Years Eve and Menudo for the hangover... Tamales were huge... The Menudo was outstanding...

I completely agree. I figured Mi Veracruz would be at the top of the list.
