ST. MARYS | A change in zoning that would allow the construction of a barge port and logistics center on a former mill site could be three weeks away if the City Council follows the recommendation of the St. Mary’s Planning Commission.

The planning panel voted unanimously Monday to recommend that the council rezone what was once the Durango-Georgia paper mill to accommodate the project.

The City Council is expected to take up the rezoning at its regular meeting April 4. The request is to rezone the property from mixed use planned development to an industrial planned development.
