Should Georgia Expect to Play of SEC Title Immediately

Kirby Smart was not brought in to replace Mark Richt to win games, he was brought in to win championships.  Is it unrealistic to expect him to do so in his first season?

No.  I have no basis for this opinion other than screw UGA.

Agreed!

Perhaps this article should be titled "Should Georgia Expect to Play for SEC Title Immediately"

The booster expectation is always to win.  If you don't, you're on the chopping block.  Realistic or not, college football is all about money.  Losing teams don't generate as much money, plain and simple.  Stadium improvements, indoor practice facilities, are always needed to keep up the game. Big donors won't contribute to losing programs, and will certainly grumble ( or worse) when teams start to lose.  It's hard to stay at the top every season.

No. It's Georgia.

Tennessee is by far the favorite in the East and I would put UF ahead of UGA with a proven coaching staff. They of course have a solid opportunity with a weak SEC East.

Why is this even a thread though?  ???

Actually, "no one is impressed" when you end your season getting bitch slapped all over the field by 3 excellent programs.

27-2  in front of the largest crowd in UF football history.  Your "NFL caliber D" got their ass beat and if it wasn't for an FSU mistake you would not have scored at all.  God that was fun to watch.

You guys did not even finish in Top 10 recruiting this year. The football program at UF is in bad shape and Coach Mac is not the answer.

It's actually going to be fun watching the "irrelevant" SEC East this year. Mark Richt leaving Georgia is a huge blow to the Gators.

27-2

Wow, you got us while we have the absolute worst quarterback (if you can even call him that) in school history.  Sick burn, bro.

Anybody with half a working knowledge of college football knows your team plays in a joke conference that is borderline irrelevant.  No one is impressed when you steamroll through it and then, without Jameis (or even with him) get destroyed by a real team...or even a joke team like Houston.

I'm a gator through and through but it's silly to call out a team, no matter the circumstance, when they completely kicked our ass. ACC also had the best team in the country through most of the season.

Not that I agree with musicman's assessment of the future. College football is fun like that...not long ago we were on top and they were in denial, that time will come again soon.

Ah, college football. Such emotion over 21-year-old boys pushing each other on a field.
Do you believe that when the blue jay or another bird sings and the body is trembling, that is a signal that people are coming or something important is about to happen?

Do things change when the age of players are 26? Then, it's more sensible?

What would you call losing to Houston and Georgia Tech?  This thread isn't about FSU or UF, but of course you seminoles have to interject your idiocy into everything.  FSU has such a complex after being awful for a decade that they have to intrude into conversations when nobody cares. It's like you know you'll be bad again soon, so you have to get all your jabs and arrogance in while you still can.

Those two losses sucked, but don't compare to losing at home to Georgia Southern. In that game GS did not complete a forward pass, and drove the field late in the 4th qt for the game winning touchdown.

FSU on the other hand just landed what ESPN rated as the number one (#1) recruiting class for 2016,(http://insider.espn.go.com/college-sports/football/recruiting/classrankings ) beating out Alabama. Looks like they might be pretty good for the forseeable future.

Also Captain, if you go back and read the thread FROM THE START, it was a Gator who "interjected their idiocy into everything" , and I responded to that.

Reading from the start, the gators were addressing the team in question, the Georgia Bulldogs.  As is typical for an FSU fan, any time the word gator is mentioned, they can't think about anything else except for spouting off some quick tidbit of gator trivia to make themselves feel secure (27-2, 4-8, Georgia Southern, etc). It's like some nervous twitch that's the result of the decade of beatings we put on you.

Congrats on your recruiting class, but that doesn't mean you're going to win anything else.  The year you guys won, you had the 12th best class.  Look who got the 12 spot this year... ;)
