Ugh, are we ever going to get a break from the construction? Seems like 95 has been under construction for a decade. Going from St Johns Co. Through downtown and west on 10 is almost 100% construction.
I guess when it's highway related, no one bats an eye...

I've lived in Jacksonville since 1991 and I am not sure I can remember a time where 95 or 295 was not under construction.

That's a little bit of an exaggeration don't you think?  Maybe take one of those zeros off and you'd be closer to the actual number.  The overland bridge is 60 something years old and chunks of the roadway have literally been falling off for the last couple of years.  The JTB interchange is a mess at rush hour.  At least some of these are sorely needed projects.  Would you prefer they are just left as is?

Take 0's off of what, the 100%? I think it's damn close, north of 90%.
All of i-10 inside the beltway (and beyond) is under construction, from emerson to downtown, under construction, as you mentioned, butler, under construction, and now this. So that leaves what? The 1 mile between 95 and baymeadows that's NOT a construction zone?

Would I rather they leave it? Sometimes. For example this project isn't necessary, the tolls on 295 in mandarin are also not necessary. The butler interchange is sorely needed.

We're not going to build our way out of traffic, it's a bucket on a sinking ship, other options must be explored.

^Driving the 95 and Old St Augustine Road, I think this will be much more of a benefit in the evenings going south. They (FDOT) sell this as a project at Old St Augustine Road; it's really to relieve the merge point at 295 and 95 south (which is bad in the evenings). That interchange is a mess, and was not done well from the start.

Northbound isn't as much of a need personally. As far as the others, JTB and 95 south of downtown were badly needed (the latter was an end of life situation). I had some concerns about the express lanes since they won't have dedicated exits to I-95; I think it's just going to create a bad merge situation.

^Yeah. When this project is complete, I-95 will basically be eight lanes between Old St. Augustine Road and I-295.

North of 90%?  Really? You've got a mile at 9B, Maybe a mile at JTB, 2 Miles downtown.  Its not that bad.  The toll lanes are dumb though.

This interchange does need this badly. The slow downs are all a merging/congestion issue. In the morning it is bumper to bumper merging on to I95 N at Old St. Augustine. This slows down I95 N traffic way down into St. Johns County. I do think I795 will help the congestion, but many are heading downtown or towards the Buckman. In the evenings, there is always congestion between I295 and Old St. Augustine heading south on I95. Again much of the traffic I believe is due to those exiting at Old St. Augustine to take Bartram Park Blvd. to Racetrack Road and into St. Johns. The third segment of I795 from I95 to St. Johns Parkway will relieve some of this but the explosion of homes/apartments in the Bartram and Racetrack Road area doesn't seem to be slowing.

When are we as a society going to wise up and stop the madness?  If adding more lanes was the solution - why does the problem still exist after adding freeway capacity for 70 years?  The more these roads are widen the more people are going to use them, until they return to the same level of congestion they are today.  Even a dog will stop chasing it's tail when it decides it will never catch it.

You're right.  They should have left it at two lanes each way!!
