How far is this from FCCJ? Why not have them turn it into housing as well?

It's across the street from FSCJ.

Wow, how intriguingly eerie. It would be the perfect set for the next season of American Horror Story.

That makes perfect sense to invest in an almost complete building, rather than one that needs work, but is right across the street from it.

As recently as 2014 it was For Sale with an asking price of $550,000.

Can anyone provide any information on how one would gain access to this building for a photo shoot, any contacts or anything would be much appreciated.

There is a person  on site with person or people loading up the contents.   It was stated that the building is being torn down mid-February.   Don't know if that is actually true or not but it appears to be falling apart.  Too bad care was not taken to save the pieces inside.

Patsy stopped by there yesterday... curious about the trucks / trailers being there.  The "maintenance man"  told her the property was sold and that the building would be razed in mid February.

I know we are not talking about a Springfield home  or something in Riverside or the School... but if this is actually true , how can that happen without public knowledge?

Certainly hope pieces of it are spared.  The building is clearly in trouble structurally .

Buildings like this are torn down regularly in Jax's older areas. Not surprising.

Wonder how much this sold for now. I am under the impression that overly optimistic asking prices also lead to many buildings falling more or less apart.

I believe this building sits on a parcel with visibility and access to downtown's busiest streets (State & Union). I think the bank next door, along Laura Street, is also closed now. Combine those two and you'd have a pretty nice peice of property.

For someone with a lot of time & money, this place would make an awesome house! Right in the middle of town. The rooftop would make a great patio. The back parking lot torn up & made into a backyard. Would definitely need a strong fence around the perimeter, though, and it might be difficult to live sandwiched between the bus depot & a 7-11. Still, this old building has possibilities.

The place is beyond redemption.  3rd floor has collapsed onto the 2nd and the 2nd very close to giving way.  There are structural cracks everywhere.  The bricks are almost nothing but dust.  This is the information that the caretaker gave me.  He said that nothing will be saved.  Whether all of that is correct, I cannot say,  However, from the photos taken by Abandoned Florida and what I saw from the outside, it all looks true
