First Coast Heart Walk 2015
« on: September 20, 2015, 12:52:57 AM »
Every year downtown Jacksonville hosts the First Coast Heart Walk to benefit the American Heart Association.

This morning was the 2015 edition.

The groups organize at Metro Park and the walk starts outside Ever Bank Field. The entire route is 3 mi and takes everyone through the "heart" of Jacksonville.

The benefit of this walk is definitely multi-threaded.

- Raise heart health awareness
- Raise money for the American Heart Association (this walk raised $1.1 Million)
- Get people walking
- Increase visibility of downtown Jacksonville (especially for those who rarely come in)

I love it because you get to see many of the older building of downtown up close and personal. For example the progress they are making on the former Bostwick Building is incredible and many people were buzzing about it when they walked by and saw it.

About 4000 people participated in this years walk.  This is a perfect example of what is great about this town.
