Indoor Go Cart Track
« on: May 24, 2014, 10:12:07 PM »
In a few weeks, an 80,000 square ft indoor go cart track named 'Autobahn Indoor Speedway' will open on Excutive Park Court off Philips Hwy in the next few weeks. These electric go carts will be capable of speeds of 50MPH! Can't wait!!!

In other news that some may notice, the Westside Costco is waiting for an extended road, and G-ville will get a Bass Pro Shops. That TU paywall crap might pop up, sorry about that.

I wonder if regional growth is promoted or subdued by this 'one stop shopping' that we advertise now with a huge consolidated city? (I know, another topic - sorry).

It's all good, I added little subcategories that went along with the TU article. Subcategories are underrated. :)

I have been to a peer of Autobahn at St Louis Mills. Electric indoor carts were great but the wait times were terrible. They have since closed.

The most popular was the "advanced" track outdoors which used 125cc Honda motorcycle engines in the karts. Those things rocked but it was expensive.

I asked the owner why so much?  He said over half of the tickets went to liability insurance for him and the mall. He said even raising the age to 21 didn't improve it.

I went to Autobahn Indoor Speedway earlier today, it's freaking awesome!! The place is kinda a bitch to get to inside an office park off Philips just north of JTB. (6601 Executive Park Ct N) They have two tracks there, the Monaco which is curvier, and the Le Mans which is speedier You go around the track fourteen times, which is very lengthy.

I went and did the 5 races for 75 dollars(it came up over 80) and they give you a card. I used three of my five races; Two by myself on each track, and one vs two employees on Le Mans who kicked my ass even though I was driving pretty good. There were other groups racing off and on, but I just happened to be selected offset from them. Crowds started to pick up a little when I left. I really hope that they advise the hell out of that place with billboards and commercials, because it's really worthwhile.

In a boat at sea one of the men began to bore a hole in the bottom of the boat. On being remonstrating with, he answered, "I am only boring under my own seat." "Yes," said his companions, "but when the sea rushes in we shall all be drowned with you."

Autobahn Indoor Speedway Jax is the largest indoor karting facility in Florida. As the good old boys say, rubbin' is racin' :)

Sometimes (like about 40 minutes ago) I go to the speedway, and it hardly isn't anyone there, mainly the employees; So I end up going back home because I don't wanna race by myself, or with AIS employees. I really don't like that tucked away location in the back of an office park. I really wish that it was on a street front with large signage, to lure in those potential walk up racers.

I would absolutely hate to see that place close down because of inconsistent patronage. Don't get me wrong, on afternoons, late Fridays and weekends there usually is a good crowd there, but there isn't a reason on any night AIS shouldn't have a good crowd. I bet there are plenty of people in Jax that don't know that the place even exists.

I noticed that they now have a DOT "Attraction" sign @ the Baymeadows exit off of 295.

Everyone in my family (except me) has been & I've only heard great things.

^^^Yeah, the facility is absolutely top notch, don't get me wrong. I go there pretty often, and noticed the lack of patrons on three occasions. If you pull up to the parking lot (like I just did about 1 hour ago) and see 3 are 4 cars, you don't even have to go inside to know that most of those cars are the employees.

Would have to concur that Autobahn is a blast but I wonder how much the price point for racing there is holding people back from giving it a try. I don't know what kind of group discounts you can get but you figure it would set back a family of four around $240 (?). That, coupled with the limited signage/difficulty of finding the place, has me worried about the longevity of the place. We need places like these, along with the proposed Top Golf thing, to work to make Jax a viable candidate for future similar ventures.

I love that place.  I would go much more often if it was cheaper.  $50 for about 30 minutes of fun is just too steep.

Where I work, we have over 100 employees and a pretty solid budget to do quarterly team activities. I looked into this place to see if it was an option. Not even close. Way too expensive.

Found this tidbit in the Daily Record Permitting Section:

Quote
Indoor Speedway Jacksonville LLC wants a zoning exception for a restaurant that includes the service of beer and wine. The go-kart track operates at 6601 Executive Park Court N., off Interstate 95. Building owner LSOP 3 FL 3 LLC seeks the exception. Lawyer Steve Diebenow is the applicant. The Jacksonville Planning Commission will review the request June 7. Autobahn Indoor Speedway & Events offers high-speed indoor go-karting, parties and meetings.

Certainly might make the Go-Karting more interesting, especially at 50MPH
