Can't have a list of Jacksonville films without mentioning "Sudden Terror: The Hijacking of School Bus #17." That is the definitive Jacksonville film.

I also remember another made-for-TV movie about some guy that gets struck by lightning and comes back to life or something. I believe it was had a scene shot at The Derby House.

What about that movie that was shot at the vacant white house on Park near stockton. I know James Gandofini, John Travolta and a bunch of others where in it, shot around 2005ish.  Thats about all I can remember. Anyone know the name of that one?

Lonely Hearts. I never saw it but I think it only was in very limited release. And the reviews were pretty mediocre.

A friend of mine played a police officer in the movie. He said Travolta and Gandolfini were both very nice.

Good grief!  You didn't include "The Creature From the Black Lagoon" shot here and in Silver Springs in the '50's.  The old Acosta Bridge and the Lobster House were prominent in it.  The Lobster House was about where the St. John's Brewery is now, but it was on a pier out over the water.

You also forgot "The Babysitter's Seduction" starring Keri Russell...  I believe the house was in Avondale, Keri's character went to Mandarin High...

But I guess in your defense, the title of this thread is "Some of the movies...."

Aka The Blood Waters of Dr. Z.  Not sure if any of it was filmed in Jacksonville proper, but some scenes were filmed nearby at Marineland and in Green Cove Springs by Jacksonville native Don Barton.

I liked it.  Also had Selma Hayek.

Lonely Hearts also had Jared Leto, who was living in San Marco at the time of filming. He was practicing/rehearsing for 30 Seconds to Mars upcoming release of A Beautiful Lie. I know this isn't related to the thread, but here is a snippet of the location in San Marco (I believe it's San Marco) where he was practicing.

so basically what this proves if its a major picture in jax it will suck big time.  give me Zaats (mst3k anyone) or the creature from the black lagoon anytime  over the big crap movies listed here

It was actually the first sequel, "Revenge of the Creature" (1955), in which the Lobster House and Marineland were featured. IIRC, the two locations are supposed to be nearby in the movie. Really messes with a local's head. I would love to see this in 3D someday.

Marineland and The Lobster House weren't very close, the stars rode a boat down the St. Johns, taking time to take a swim, while the Creature watched.  The jarring thing was that the St. Johns supposedly ran past Marineland.

You should have come to the SunRay Cinema in 5 Points a few months ago, they had a special 3D showing, with the female lead making a personal appearance.
