Some things that stood out to me:
1. Twice as many trucks this time. The industry has really flourished over the last 12 months.
2. Downtown location instead of Bold City Brewery's parking lot. So more economic spin off for brick & mortars.
3. No rain this time around.
4. A significant amount of press the month leading up to the event. Even the Jax Truckies facebook site has nearly 9,000 followers now. That site didn't really take off till after the success of last year's championship.
5. Free fare and thousands of more people, so lines were not as manageable and quick moving as the initial rally.
By the way, this year's winners were:
Best BBQ - Driftwood BBQ (BBQ atop blue cheese mashed potatoes)
Best Taco - Monroe's BBQ on the Go (spicy pulled pork with creamy slaw and Siracha)
Best Sandwich - Taste Buds Express (chicken schwarma flauta)
Most Innovative - The Happy Grilled Cheese (Crunch Melt grilled cheese with Mac 'n cheese and tomato soup)
Sweet Tooth - On the Fly Sandwiches 'n Stuff (chocolate peanut butter pretzel bar)
Best Overall Truck - On the Fly
People's Choice (voted by you) - On the Fly
