Recommendations?
« on: May 14, 2013, 12:12:49 PM »
I'm  not sure if this is an appropriate posting, but I am seeking recommendations for a reputable salon where I will NOT encounter  a free toenail fungus with every pedicure.  They must do more than put their instruments in an ultraviolet light box for me to believe they have been sterilized.  Many thanks.

Nails? Or hair too?

Hair: Hawthorne (Park)

Hair and nails: Cecil Vignutti (Margaret St)

Nails: forget the name, it's in the Avondale strip.

Try Avela Day Spa at 1445 N. Main Street.

They opened a few months ago and everyone seems to enjoy their services. My wife had a 'deluxe' mani/pedi there and they really pampered her.

Not sure about the sterilization methods, but my wife goes to the Nail Boutique on Stockton.  It's very small and intimate, but very fairly priced.  She is happy with her experience.

They always dig the green slime from under her nails, so I'm kept happy  :P

I liked the atmosphere at the one on Stockton Street, but it is incredibly small. Not great for walk ins, as it's really hit or miss whether they are there, even when it says they're open. Last time I went, they told me they've had lots of turn over.

Lately I haven't had much luck in any nail salon in Riverside/Avondale. My best friend and I get our nails done together every two weeks. It's the only chance we have to see each other with our busy schedules. Lately we go up to Secret Nails in Orange Park. It's just past the Oakleaf Town Center on other side of the street. DON'T let the men touch your fingernails, although they seem fine with pedicures.

However, if you find one that's good, I'm all ears! Let me know.

Venetian on the edge of the St.Johns Town Center.
Happy nail in the 5points Publix center.

yeah, I like my toes picked at and a great foot rub + leg / calf / ankle massage like anybody should.  I have only had three manicures in my life. nothing to write home about except the forearm + palm massage i didn't expect but certainly did NOT stop either.  Sweet cute little ladies at the Venetian.  I don't let ANYONE shave / cut / trim / clip  my cuticles.   Sole sloughing is welcome as I love to go barefoot and have been known to occasionally sport the "jiffy foot".

What do they say? Westside is the bestside lol.
eh.
