Glad to see the Pic of the Riverwalk connection to Bay St. New survey stakes on Hogans Creek. I've noticed dozens from Washington and Beaver all the way down to behind the Casket Factory and Jacksonville Historical Society. Hopefully there won't be demolition to habitat.

Three of us made a scene last week before the Jags game and caught about 20 fish under the brand new No Fishing Signs that was never before Waterways. Artificial Reef subcommittee meeting of the Jacksonville Waterways Commission Oct. 3. At 9:30 at city hall.

Sorry if I'm asking a dumb question - but what exactly are they doing with Robt E Lee H.S.?

Is it mostly exterior repair/restore work, or something more intense?

I don't get out that way much these days and haven't seen it in person lately...

They are renovating existing space and adding some new space- a new cafeteria I think.  You can read about it from the construction company site.  Supposedly it will be LEED certified which is pretty cool.

Any idea when we'll get another tower or 2 downtown? Next 10-20 years maybe?

^ I agree with you on that. However, I think we should fill our existing buildings first. (with apartments mostly)

Any idea wtf is going on with the new Pulp? Personally I think it's an awful move....look how fast fro-yo and smoothie businesses go dark these days. But it looks like they're stubbornly persevering. Why haven't they opened yet?

Also--any word on a potential 'town relo? What about Benham?

With Pulp, it could have something to do with permitting.  Nevertheless, it appears they are moving forward again.  There was construction going on when I took the image last week.

And looking at most of the sidewalks in the core, I ask myself; (and now, all of you on this site) Would it be so bad if the sidewalks went all the way to the curb? Seriously, they're only like two feet wide! And don't even get me started on the courthouse pitiful excuse for sidewalks, They don't even encompass the entire block! What backward idiot was allowed to let that design failure fly?!

^^^Or how about a 6-9 ft sidewalk with inserts/planters separating pedestrians from vehicles and contributing to the overall aesthetics and feel of downtown?  Too much to ask for?  Maybe plants hanging from the lights?  Designers down there are putting in inexcusable "Julington Creek/suburbanesque" sidewalks into core areas.  Doesn't work.

Good update though (aside from that despicable VA with the prison fence around it and the sea of parking, all replacing some interesting buildings...land is just tooo cheap down there!).
