On the Fly will be at Art Walk tonight!!!!! Come over to the Florida Theatre and enjoy some great food and see what food trucks have to offer in Jacksonville.
Proceeds will be going towards Team Hayden:
Hayden Brooks Chadwell was born on April 28, 2011 at 35 weeks gestation via emergency c-section. He weighed only four lbs and had trouble breathing (which required surgery for a rare condition). He lived in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Wolfson’s Childrens Hospital for 82 days.During this time Hayden suffered a traumatic brain injury. His diagnosis was given as bilateral grade III/IV brain bleed with periventricular leukomalacia, choanal atresia, severe gerd, seizure disorder, cortical vision impairment, thrombosis, g-tube fed, and will have severe global developmental delay with spastic quadriplegia cerebral palsy.
Doctors said all the things Hayden wouldn’t do, specifically: see, eat, feel, hear, sit, crawl, stand, think, have a long life, etc. He is enrolled in the PedsCare program of Hospice, a palliative care program for children with life-long serious illness/medical fragility. He is also receiving therapy and family services from DLC Nurse & Learn Center, Early Steps, Children Medical Services, ELKS, Florida School for The Deaf & The Blind, and New Heights.
Team Hayden is a community of family and friends, doctors and nurses, educators and advocates, therapists and believers who see no boundaries and want to push that mustard seed. We are currently seeking a tax exemption/ 501c-3 status to help other families in the NICU.
Today, Hayden can hear. He is accepting food by spoon and bottle. He is tracking some with his eyes. He smiles and coos. He feels the wind on his face! He is rolling over (new milestone as of March 23). Team Hayden won’t give up.
