PUMP UP THE VOLUME: Year End Lists Are Cool

It's that time of the year folks. We stand at the dawn of a new year, which means we have to look back on the little discoveries we made, the continued joys found in the cannons of well-loved artists, and the rediscoveries of relevancy of artist seemingly thought to have lost it. I will, no doubt draw much ire with my list. But I hope to challenge you this year with diversity-honest diversity-by leading you through the obvious, ridiculous, and polarizing choices I have made.

Love your list. There are quite a few entries I have not heard, or heard of, but you have given me some titles to check out. I don't listen to radio so it's list like these where I find new stuff to listen to. I would have had to include The Whole Love and El Camino on my list though.

Thanks avonjax! I realized this week I missed a few that to me are glaring holes: Josh T Pearson--the last of the country gentlemen, Lenny Kravitz--black and white America, she and him--merry Christmas, the men--leave home, etc. But as I said once my ears catch up I will do a part 2 of this list. Either way thanks for reading metrojax & PUTV!!!

Great List!   I can't wait to look up some of the groups you put in the list.

In my opinion The Head and the Heart was by far my favorite album of the year.  I just cannot stop listening to them.

Adele, Bon Iver, and Youth Lagoon also put up some great music this year.

While not on your list, I would also give credit to the following standout releases this year:

The Decemberists- The King is Dead (and the EP King is Alive)
Ryan Adams- Ashes and Fire
Cold War Kids- Mine is Yours
Foster the People-Torches
The Civil Wars- Barton Hallow
Of Monsters and Men - Into the Woods EP (released about two weeks ago)

I didn't realize Barton hollow came out this year I thought it was older. Yeah I wrestled with Ryan Adams and the decemberists but they left me wanting a tad more. But I did spare everyone Jessie j which initially made the cut...

Great list although it is missing one very unappreciated Jax artist: Tobacco Pat! WWW.tobaccopat.COM
