.... but Miami sold out. Based upon the amount of whining that is done at every state of the Jags bs fest, I think ticket sales might be a little more important here. I think they may approach 2013 level this year.
I'm surprised Miami sold out. That's a historically bad team to watch tank in the heat for Tua.

Uh oh. Only 60,157 tickets sold. I understand the limited walk up sales due to the heat but for that poor amount of pre- sales for home opener and KC spells big trouble for the rest of the season unless there is a Minshew miracle on the horizon.

Tampa was 55,900, with a free Tim McGraw concert at the stadium before the game.

This was Miami:

https://sportsnaut.com/2019/09/look-hard-rock-stadium-astonishingly-empty-for-second-half-of-ravens-dolphins-game/

In that context, our number isn't particularly bad or good.

Panthers and Browns also had an astonishing number of empty seats.

Problem is larger than the Jags, and the scorching 1 pm games don't help.

I have been going to games since the beginning and the number of empty seats was surprising.

The 100 degree heat played a part for sure. But it would not shock me if this is a season-long trend.

It was the first time I had been in the upper deck area in a few years. And I have to say it was the first time that the stadium felt old. The teal seats are scorched and being empty made it more obvious. There are faded and peeling signs.

^Worst pre-season in franchise history and an exhausting 10-day hurricane watch that ate up the normal media hype cycle certainly didn't help either.

Don't blame the hurricane.  Everyone knew the NFL season was starting 6 months before the hurricane and Miami sold out and they were supposed to be ground zero for landfall 2 days before it turned.

No discussion of either Eli Manning or Colin Kaepernick as possible Jags QB?

Yeah, I saw that. If there were even half-serious talk of bringing Kap, the servers of the local sports sites would melt down with all the vitriol.

Eli Manning is terrible and has a 12 million dollar base salary.

You are better off with Minshew.

I hope it would melt down. To bring in a QB who hasn’t played for 2 years or been any good for 5 years would be rather dumb even for the Jags brain trust.

That would essentially kill Lot J funding.  I doubt it would hurt ticket sales though.  If you're still one of the few going to games you would probably okay with anyone joining the team if they could deliver a win.

It's like Babe Ruth's manager telling him to bunt.

Like if there's 5 second left in Game 7, and Phil Jackson tells MJ to throw a bounce pass to Jud Buechler.

I give Marrone an A for going for 2 for sparing me having to watch these teams play more than 60 minutes. Can’t wait for the next AFC South duel. TNF!
