I remember when the Patriot logo was introduced, some commentators called it a flying Elvis.  It still looks kind of like Elvis to me.

I think you're onto something there...!

I think part of the reason Pats fans didn't freak out when Kraft made changes was that there weren't many of them.  New England had a season ticket holder base of only 17,000 until Parcells/Bledsoe/Kraft came along.

I remember when the Patriot logo was introduced, some commentators called it a flying Elvis.  It still looks kind of like Elvis to me.  Also, the Titans' logo still looks like a thumbtack that is on fire, and the Broncos' still looks like a greyhound that is on fire.

Thats what I was thinking also. They didnt give a shit about the partiots anyways, so it was a non factor to most people. LMAO@Flying Elvis

Early April is when the new merch goes on sale.

REALLY like the new logo, particularly the shield.

Im also hearing that Caldwell once to give Gabbert a chance this season. There will be QB competition , but he's pretty much said gabbert needs time and we can build the team around him. He also mentioned early on that he studied Gabbert prior to the draft and knew he would need some work. With one crappy, unstable, train wreck season of 2011, and another one in 2012 that he ended early because of  his injury, I think its only fair to give him the 3rd year to prove his self. There is not any QB's in the draft that's a definate must have, so we might as well leave the QB situation alone this year anyways. And to be honest, I dont think Mularkey trusted Gabbert. When Gabbert was under center the play calling was conservative and they had him terrified of throwing a pick. But when henne got in, all of a sudden they opened the playbook.

I keep looking at our games early last year and our receivers were the problem. Until we shifted the shorts in the starting roles, the receivers were not looking to good. I remember the bengals game, texans and bears game. They were getting open AT ALL. Cant throw a ball to someone who isnt there. If we can get improved play by the line and our receivers continue to blossom, this will be the year gabbert shows if hes really our QB. We shall see...

I'm still trying to wrap my head around how the Jaguars are "doing so much for the community."

The most dumb comment on MJ ever. Sorry for being so blunt. I know that you hate the Jaguars (and that's okay BTW), but lets get real here, you aren't even being reasonable.

I never understood why anyone would stick up for the often WRONG misguided grumpy complaining people outside the Jaguars fanbase. Either you agree with them, or not simple as that. So if umpteen idiots was to basically say something like "The Jags never win any game that matters. We should have took Tebow in the first round to save the franchise. I'll give it about five more years max, and we will be in LA or London". Us true Jag fans supposed to say "Whoopee effing do, man these people are really bringing some rational thought to the table!!!!" Again, either you agree, or disagree. Defenders of the irrational complainers, word of advice, please stop while you're ahead.

ESPN used to joke that the Patriots looked and played like a USFL team when they made the change.

To try to play mediator here--

Adam W., I understand you were expressing your opinion that sports franchises do not provide an economic benefit to cities, which is not necessarily an anti-Jaguars opinion, of course.

However, a lot of us Jaguars hardcores have a visceral reaction to seeing a comment that the Jaguars do not do anything for the community, because we've long been frustrated with how local news sources frequently hype a particular athlete who used to live in the area as the most charitable and faithful man in history while ignoring the Jaguars' charitable contributions of time and money in the Jacksonville area.  This has led to many arguments with fans of that particular athlete who claim that the Jaguars are not doing any charity work and need to acquire said athlete because he does something in the community.  I am often left incredulous of the local ignorance of the Jaguars' and individual players' charitable campaigns.

I realized in context that you were making an economic argument, but my first, visceral reaction to seeing the phrase "I can't wrap my head around the idea that the Jaguars are doing much for the community" was to assume that the "Jaguars don't give anything to charities" argument was starting again.

How's everyone doing?  It's been a while, but I guess it's time to drag my ass back to the Jag's board.

Gators - you were right; I was wrong.  you are smart; I am not.  you are pretty;  I have a face only a mama could love.  In other words, Lo siento.

State of the Jags - it's really just a time to be hopeful.  Khan has basically taken his first year to dig into the issues and is starting to publicize the stuff he's noticed.  New GM, new staff, new logo, new mission statement.... now it's finally a new company and now the process of changing over the actual workforce begins.  And it's going to take a few years, but it's coming.  I'll have a better idea of where we're heading after the draft & FA.  Whomever stays behind from the old team is going to determine the direction that we're heading in the future.

The Logo - Seriously?!?!?  Why is there so much drama over the logo?  I don't like the fact that they released the new logo before releasing the new unis, but in a round-a-bout way it makes sense.  Our previous jerseys were teal, so it made sense to have a dark brown, black logo.  Our new jersey color is black, so we had to lighten up the logo (white accents) and do something the bring the teal striping that I expect into play (teal nose, eyes, etc...)  Also, if you haven't seen the pics of the logo on apparel yet, then you're not getting the whole picture.  The more streamlined Jag looks badass on the clothing.  Get over yourselves.  It's not like we had a old Jag employee try to just touch it up....

Kenneth Jenkins

Moving Forward - I think it's a shame that we're still getting ragged about sellouts - we finished last year 20th in attendance.  I also think it's a shame that we were 20th in attendance and 31st in revenue....  That is probably one of the biggest drivers for us playing 2 games a year in London.  I've heard that (based on attendance figures past) we will make 4-5 home games worth of revenue in the 2 that we play overseas - that's a good thing for both the team and the city.  If that trend continues, then we'll be, financially, one of the more competitive teams in the NFL and if our front office is solid, that will translate into wins.  I also hear the radio dunces talking about the new logo as a way to sell more shit....  Seriously people, all apparel revenue is split 32 ways, the only extra money made is if it's sold in your stadium - get over it.

$50MM Video Board - I'm not a huge fan of it, but probably not for the reasons of most.  I think it will actually detract from what's going on on the field.  Too many eyes watching the board and not enough watching the action as it happens.  That's not saying we couldn't go bigger, but I don't think we need to go biggest.  With regards to the financial aspect of it, I'm 98% sure they have a deal in place, and I'm also sure that they will make it appear that Khan will be fronting the money with a backend payout, personally, I don't give a crap.  I just think that it could be spent in better ways to enhance the actual gameday experience.

Damn, I'm going to miss football.  When do pitchers and catchers report?
A common mistake people make when trying to design something completely foolproof is to underestimate the ingenuity of complete fools.

Hey there stranger! I agree about the attendance thing. After reading that the Raiders are reducing their capacity to 53,200 to avoid blackouts, it made be even more upset people constantly rag us about our attendance. The ticket revenue shows are ticket pricing is too low. They are making the right move by increasing little by little over time and introducing more premium seating. Never again will we be content at being at the bottom.

Okay I agree that I say off kilter stuff every once in a while (nearly everyday was quite a harsh exaggeration) but I think that I also say plenty of valid things that might not necessarily be popular on this site too. I guess that I'm learning that the key is to bring more helpful and rational information to the table while limiting the stupid stuff.
