Another tidbit... Jags first team in NFL history to win a playoff game after starting 2 and 6.

And another....It is THE largest comeback in #NFL history for a team that did not force a single turnover.

Miami did not do their job. By losing today it forces the Jags into an away game against either KC or Buffalo next weekend.

Tufsu, about 12 hours late with this news... see my prior post  ;D.

Here is the recent line for this week:
Quote
Line: Chiefs -9, O/U 52

And, some more tidbits, some previously posted, some new:

Quote
Comeback cats. The Jaguars' 27-point comeback against the Chargers was the third-largest comeback in NFL postseason history. It was also the largest comeback in franchise history for the Jags and the biggest blown lead ever for the Chargers.

Jaguars pull of the impossible. One reason Jacksonville's win was so stunning is because no NFL team had ever won a game the way the Jags won. The Jaguars were the first team ever to win a playoff game after going minus-five or worse in turnover margin. Before this year, playoff teams were 0-26 in that situation.

Pick-three. With three interceptions against the Jaguars, Asante Samuel Jr. became the first player in postseason history to pick off three passes in the first half of a playoff game (He's also the ninth player in NFL history with three interceptions in a playoff game).

I still can't believe Saturday was real. I've been to a lot, and I mean a LOT, of football games in my life. Between 8 hours of frigid tailgating, the energy in the stadium (2nd half energy to be specific), the play on the field and then the absolutely epic emotions with fans in and around the stadium, that was the greatest football experience I've ever had. The brokenness of this franchise has remarkably gone hand-in-hand with the brokenness of parts of this city over the years. Winning fixes everything and the amount of stoke and love pouring out downtown after that game between friends and strangers in teal was so cool to be a part of. We're witnessing the rebirth of our franchise. Perhaps the rebirth of the city can go hand-in-hand?

For the gamblers, here is some interesting info:

Quote
Jacksonville Jaguars at Kansas City Chiefs (-8.5), Saturday at 4:30 p.m. ET

Jacksonville is 8-5 outright and ATS as an underdog this season, tied for the most underdog wins in a single season in the Super Bowl era. It has only been an underdog of 7+ points once this season (+9 at Kansas City in Week 10; lost by 10). Jacksonville has won four straight games outright as an underdog.

Most outright wins as an underdog - Regular season and postseason in the Super Bowl era
Year   Team   Record
1981   San Francisco   8-2
2001   New England   8-4
2022   Jacksonville   8-5<<
1981   New York (N)   8-5
2015   Washington   8-6

Doug Pederson is 6-0 ATS and 5-1 outright as a playoff underdog. That is the most playoff games as an underdog by a coach without an ATS loss in the Super Bowl era.

This will be the 14th straight playoff game Kansas City is favored in, the longest streak by any team in the Super Bowl era. Patrick Mahomes will have been favored in all 12 of his playoff starts, the longest streak to begin a career in that span.

Most Consecutive Playoff Games Favored In - Super Bowl Era
Duration   Team   Streak
2016-pres.   Kansas City   14<<
2014-18   New England   12
2007-13   New England   11
1988-93   San Francisco   9

Kansas City is 2-10 ATS against conference opponents this season.

Mahomes is 3-0 ATS against Jacksonville, including a cover earlier this season.

Since 2020, Kansas City is 12-18 ATS as a favorite of at least seven points.

Since 2006, No. 1 seeds are 4-9-1 ATS in divisional playoff games as favorites of at least seven points.

Kansas City is 1-4 ATS off a bye, including playoffs, since 2020.

Jacksonville is 5-1 ATS in its past six games.

Good effort... cannot turn the ball over in the red zone. Great foundation to build on for next year...
In a boat at sea one of the men began to bore a hole in the bottom of the boat. On being remonstrating with, he answered, "I am only boring under my own seat." "Yes," said his companions, "but when the sea rushes in we shall all be drowned with you."

The game can be summed up by paraphrasing this old Adam Sandler joke about Wilt Chamberlain's 100 point NBA game:

"Uhh, whose covering Travis Kelce?"

Nevertheless, it was wonderful seeing the Jaguars confidence grow over the second half of the season. The pass rush improved, the secondary stepped up, the oft-maligned offensive line gave Trevor Lawrence enough protection and a run game threat like defenses never seen before from us. But most off all, this team and staff showed tons of poise and they never let mistakes or miscues get them down.

These Jaguars have not hit their ceiling like the '17-'18 team that lost to the Patriots in the AFC Finals that year. Looking forward to this Jaguar team for years to come.

A game that was there for us to win - but showed we just aren't quite there yet. Dropped passes, dropped INT, costly turnovers and letting Chad frigin Henne go 98 yards for a TD won't win you many football games. Frustrating way to watch the party end but can't be too upset as this was one of the most exciting seasons we've had in 20 years. The foundation is clearly built. Should be a fun few years ahead of us..

Sure doesn't seem to be much excitement on this board for a possible playoff team... and that is really too bad...Tsk tsk.  Colts should be good place to start and get the championship run going.  Can't wait to see the Trevor-Calvin connection... unfortunately I am in north Georgia and will have to watch the Falcons... sigh.

A lot is riding on the TLaw to Ridley connection in my opinion. I think a lot of us are eager to see how TLaw plays with a true WR1. Hopefully end of last year TLaw!

Good start to the season... defense needs work...
