Noone, Captain Zissou, Peejay Eyes and myself spent the morning kayaking Hogans and downtown. We paddled underneath the Hyatt, swam with 3 porpoises and played a game of river baseball with a few tennis balls we found floating in the river.
We'll be kayaking Hogans to Exchange Club Island the first weekend of August and holding a large cleanup of Hogans Creek the third weekend of August.
Come out to enjoy parts of Jacksonville few get to enjoy.
Here are some pictures from last Saturday:
Paddling down Hogans past Maxwell House, tide was EXTREMELY low that day.
Staring at the future: Bay Street Pier Park
Underneath the Hyatt:
Hard to tell from these two pictures, but the arrow points to the porpoises that were curious and played around with us for about 20 minutes. Photo quality on these aren't the best... it's tough to try to take pictures of a mammal who goes up and down from the surface while also fighting against the current on the kayak.
The pier... a man was actually fishing off it this morning:
Bulkhead work is already done for a Riverwalk extension... next step is to connect the pier
