Jacksonville vs.Copenhagen

In this article, Metro Jacksonville travels across the pond to Europe. Well-known for its compact, historic cities, its urbanism seems out-of-reach given the partisan climate and snail’s pace of progress in Florida. Can we really learn from these established cities? Or is it too unrealistic?

Too unrealistic.

That said, we can learn from ANY city.

But yes, too unrealistic  ;D

You definitely picked a great place to visit but I agree with the other posters - can't really compare the two cities, at all.

Badly titled thread as it's city vs city. The title should have been along to lines of the 'Learning from' series. Fill in the blank international tourist city vs Jax will of course bring out the typical sarcastic responses, gotta love that... ::)

As a longtime poster I-10, I think you'll find that I'm one of the least sarcastic (and most blindly pro-JAX) people here. I wasn't being sarcastic when I said "you just can't compare the two"...that's me being straight faced honest.

I do agree it should be titled "LEARNING FROM" again, as that's the ONLY feasible way to deal with an Apples vs. Oranges issue.

As someone who travels often (10 new countries per year and hundreds of new cities), I can say, with a straight face, that I learn from EVERY city I visit. Not only do I learn from them, but I come home thinking "this could work in JAX" or "that couldn't work in JAX." It's one of the best parts of traveling (and one of the best parts of being a JAX resident!!! FWIW, I like living in a city that can learn from another city...and I like living in a city that requires vast improvement. As I tell my out-of-town friends, "who wants to live in a city that already has it's shit together!?").

I spent a few days in Copenhagen. On our last day there we picked up a car to drive on to Ærø island... I remember being terrified driving around the city. So many pedestrians and cyclists who assumed drivers were on their game, I thought for sure I'd kill someone.

tldr; driving a car in Copenhagen is scarier than riding a bike in jax.
