I stopped by the public hearing for about 10 minutes tonight. the project runs from just west of I-95 to just east of Southside Blvd. Highlighted improvements include:

1. A new sidewalk on the southside of Baymeadows, running from Western Way to Southside Blvd.

2. A new sidewalk and double Northbound left turn lanes on Western Way at Baymeadows.

3. Double Eastbound left turn lanes from Baymeadows to Old Baymeadows.

4. Double Northbound left turn lanes on Southside at Old Baymeadows.

5. Closing of medians closest to Southside Blvd on the west side of intersections at Baymeadows and Old Baymeadows Road.

^This last one received complaints from a retailer in the Publix Shopping Center and a Sleiman representative, regarding access to their shopping center at Baymeadows and Southside. The retailer mentioned they had to shut one of their stores down after the Atlantic/Kernan interchange was constructed.  He said business was humming along until the closed off a couple of shopping center access points to construct the Atlantic overpass. After the overpass was built, he said traffic bypassed the strip mall and they closed that location as a result.  He said he'd rather see the access points stay open and traffic back up then see them closed. Sleiman's rep pretty much stated the same thing, regarding their adjacent strip mall.
