What's the estimated time of completion for this again?  2009?  2010?

This project is dead. All we got was the Wachovia and some relocated businesses leaving empty storefronts behind.

Yes, it is dead. It's amazing what hasn't happened in the past year.

Its not dead. There's talk of moving it forward by switching the condos above Publix to apartments.

Well, I talked to some district managers from Publix a few weeks back and they don't believe it's happening anytime soon.

We shall see.  It find it amazing that East San Marco is dead (delayed) and the developers at Jackson Sqaure still propose to move forward.

Why?  East San Marco was initially proposed as condos over retail and then the condo market went bust.  Jackson Square is proposed as apartments, but still needs to go through a couple of years of approval, rezoning, permitting and design before any dirt can be turned.  My guess is that we'll see East San Marco rise out of the ground first.  Primarily, because they already gone through the things mentioned above.

 :)

Wow, this is great news.  Last I heard the project was totally put on hold.  Like a 2+ year hold till the market turned around.

I can not believe that the San Marco area has existed this long without a decent grocery store nearby.

DARN, and I just signed a year lease! UGH!

Just add streetcar and watch it bloom, I'm telling you, this city is a development bomb about to go SKY HIGH!

If East San Marco and Jackson Square, the new Baptist, the new Crown Parking garage and the new Kings Avenue Station don't convince you. "Your lights are on but your house is missing...."

PLEASE NO MORE RESIDENTAL BUILDINGS!!! It is cool about the Publix thing and some nice new retail places... but apartments or condos bring more kids and Hendricks Ave Elem cannot handle anymore children. It seems like this was not considered at all.

No more kids??  If schools are overcrowded they can always be expanded or rebuilt.  Would you rather the development head to the burbs where more new schools have to be built pulling more money from the inner city schools??
