But unfortunately, knowing how things have gone in the past. I don't see it happening. Freebird Cafe would be taking a bold step and would benefit greatly by being "the early bird" to downtown, but if they are looking to go to Atlantic Beach, I believe that is where their heart is. My optomistic side though is crossing my fingers and looking forward to another good destination spot coming to downtown.

The same reason none of the other ideas on here are being implemented...because the mayor and/or jedc directors would have to give this site credit.  And they already know everything.

I wouldn't care if the Mayor and his staff took all the credit for anything suggested on this site being implemented.  Lets just work on making these ideas a reality for the greater good of all.  The Mayor and his staff will eventually be replaced, but what becomes of Jacksonville will last much much longer.

AS Jason said, they can take all the credit they want.  All we want is a vibrant downtown sooner rather than later.  This means when an establishment like Freebird is having problems finding a new location, somebody with influence on the council, Mayor's office, or JEDC get proactive, pick up the phone and attempt to sell them on downtown.  After all, its in their best interest considering over a million has been spent on the creation of that wide Bay Street sidewalk with the hopes of it becoming a real entertainment district.  Well here's the chance to pull in a heavy hitter.
