Metro Jacksonville explores the history behind the Skyway.  Poorly implemented mass transit ideas can have just as much of a negative effect on the core, as poorly implemented master plans.

Excellent Info.  Miami certainly is the example to follow with proposed expansions to the Skyway and regional mass transit.  If the Skyway were free we could cerainly expect an increase in ridership, however, if it actually connected the destinations as originally intended there shouldn't be any reason that it couldn't sustain itself.

Candid Article. I especially found it insightful that the present sky way destinations were not what was originally proposed. This seems to be the key for more ridership: better destinations. The track should definitely be extended to the sports district and to San Marco. It would be cool to see residential development clustered around the stations.
