Efforts to redevelop the former National Guard Armory near downtown into a hub for artists is inching closer to construction.
REVA Development Corp., a Fort Lauderdale developer that embarked on the project five years ago, filed civil plans for Made at The Armory Tuesday afternoon, which is often the first step in the permitting process. The developer will lead the $30 million redesign and reuse of the 116-year-old, city-owned Armory into a 20- to 25-stall food hall with a community kitchen, co-working offices and conference rooms, art studios and galleries, a performance space and residential units.
In September, City Council approved a resolution that authorized Mayor Donna Deegan’s office to apply for a $7.5 million loan from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development to help redevelop the armory building at 851 N. Market St.
Don Patterson, REVA Development President told the Business Journal in February that he expected to close on construction financing by the end of December.
REVA's bid to redevelop the property was selected by the city in 2019.
